And What To My Wondering Eyes Did Appear....

But a liberated barbecue!

The Marvelous Mamoo took heaven knows what tools along with the shovel and the help of a couple of kids and freed the barbecue. Well, all but its feet, but seeing as it is not planning on going anywhere anytime soon, I think that is just fine.

Thanks Mamoo. And thank you for displaying your amazing talent at getting the kids to do things that I can't. I couldn't even get one of them to bring me the shovel yesterday. I don't know how she does it.

I once had a neighbor who had to use his barbecue daily. I used to watch him out of the window, squatting under the overhang of his garage door, grilling. Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor dark of night prevented him from the faithful completion of his steak searing, let me tell you. So, I definitely wish you joy of your toy -- hope it's the harbinger of sunnier days.

You 're welcome Jackie. Actually, Nicole wanted me to play Frisbee with her in the back yard and I was getting tired of fetching the Frisbee in the deep snow.
I had to think of something to do. I started to clear snow from the steps and found Nicole's shovel buried in the ice. Then she wanted to shovel snow. So I asked her to help me shovel some snow from around the barbecue. There was a deep layer of ice on top of the snow which made the task a bit difficult. But we worked at it until the kids came home from school. Mira came to help to break ice off the step with a piece of 2x4 . That worked very well. Then I searched and found some small gardening shovels, a hammer and what ever would dig in the ice. Liam had a long metal bar that worked well also. The kids had a great time and Liam worked out a big appetite. Mira was eager for a Barbecue so she really worked hard at chipping the ice. They were all told to proceed with extreme caution. Nicole was pouring water around the propane tank to melt the snow. She was getting the water that had gathered in a big plastic container beside the house. I couldn't get Simon to come out,. He came to check things out but went back in to play with his cards Have a great Barbecue!

I do hope the side piece reappears as the snow recedes. I won't tell you about my daffodils popping up all over. I'll keep those pictures to a minimum.

A great story! I am not sure how one uses a 2X4 with caution to break ice, but then again, Mamoo is a bit special when it comes to kids. I hope that you all enjoyed some marinated chicken wraps to celebrate the early arrival of spring for the BBQ. If it is any consolation, winter is having a last ditch attempt at reminding us here in the UK that he isn't quite finished with us. We have been getting the occasional snow flurry. Not enough to upset the daffodils, and it melts within hours, but still cold enough that I haven't quite put my winter coat away for the spring.

Yay! I'm glad that things are clearing up for you guys! As Curious Llama says, things have been colder here ... so not quite spring for us yet, but at least the sunshine's coming!
