James

I am in Ottawa right now hanging out with my sister and brother-in-law and getting to know my nephew a bit.
James asleep
Being almost two months old, James spends a fair amount of time sleeping. I have managed to coax a couple of smiles out of him but he doesn't give them up easily. Hopefully when he comes to visit in the summer he will be a little more free with them. He loves lights and shadows and will calm down (sometimes) when pointed in a direction where he can see them.
It has been a while (7 years) since I have done the baby thing and some of it is coming back. I remember some of the good tricks to help calm the savage beast. The "rock\bounce\walk" and the "hum and grunt". And the knowledge that sometimes nothing much will help until they get the poop\gas out on their own.

Brazen sleeping
Being 14, the cat spends a lot of time sleeping too. She has bad hips and knees and occasionaly gets a dropperful of some really good drugs that have her staring at the lights like a college boy. She has the longest fur that I have ever seen on a cat. And surprisingly she is not bad on my allergies.

You may not be allergic to cats. Most people who are "allergic to cats" are actually allergic to the pollen which comes in with them: because cats lick their fur to clean it, and their saliva is sticky, they are essentially pollen-vacuums. So - if you get even the slightest bit of hay fever, avoid the cats who are allowed outside!

Aww, James!
I cheated; at that stage with my sister I gave her unsweetened mint tea. It cut down on the amount of time I had to spend doing the rock/bounce walk. She burped like a ... um... college boy. :)

D-Interesting! I do have pollen allergies and always thought that it was just the cat saliva that I couldn't handle. I had a short haired cat for years and she didn't bother me too much but she could never lick me anywhere except for my hands or I would get a rash and itch. And I didn't let her on my bed. I guess that it could be both because this is an indoor cat and she hasn't tried licking me.

T-He already belches like a college boy but I will let my sister know about the mint tea trick!

Awww, the little prince is sleeping and is holding on his smiles. Thanks for the photo. I hope that you are enjoying the visit. Have you seen Al yet?
