Dad came and we loaded up the first new machine and the dryer, brought them back to the store and basically traded them in for a higher end machine. It was quick to hook up and when I pushed the power button, there was POWER! Can you imagine?Thanks Mamoo and Grampie for all your help in this ridiculous song and dance. You two are the greatest!
And for those of you who wandered over here to see something soft and fluffy, here is 208 yards of soft merino goodness. My own hand dyed of course.

Can I tell you how envious I am of a full-sized washing machine? Ours, here, will hold about 4 towels. When we go home, we get to run everything through a full-sized machine, and are just amazed that all of our clothes, for a month, will run through with space left over! What a wonderful thing!

Wow, it looks like the 21st century! I'm curious as to how you like a front-loader. I've read a lot of online discussion about them by fiber folk and dyers. It seems to be a matter of personal preference. I suppose I'm just used to my top loader.
Personally, I would never go back to the water wasting noisy top loader washing machines.
My top loader is quiet, efficient and has a huge capacity, which can wash a king size comforter quite nicely.

I think you mean your "front loader is quiet", don't you?
The machine Jackie posted here replaces a front loader we had for more than a dozen years, and it was a good machine. They do use less water than top loaders, for sure. I wouldn't go back to a top loader either.
Yeah, you're right Mira's Papa. I was late for work this morning and I was eating breakfast as I was posting and did not quite got it right..
I meant my front loader washer of course.
Not even a year old and damaged already.
And now that I have it apart, the thing looks less robust than the previous one in the place where it failed. The engineer in me is not amused.
